Today, Team Nohô had the pleasure of interviewing an aerial arts enthusiast (you can also find on Le Mag Nohô an interview with a host passionate about the associative world or a kitesurfing enthusiast directly on our blog). We asked her the following questions.
My name is Oriane, I’m 24 years old, and I work as an engineer in the aeronautical field. At the same time, I’ve been practicing aerial arts for over 10 years with a circus association in Paris. I had to take a break during my studies, but I resumed a few months ago in Nancy, and it’s a real pleasure to be back in this discipline that I’m so passionate about.
I discovered the circus at the age of 8, thanks to a workshop organized at my elementary school. I was immediately captivated by this activity, which combined balancing, juggling and other disciplines. My parents saw my enthusiasm and quickly enrolled me in a circus association.
During the first year, I practiced in a versatile way, but then specialized in aerial arts. There are three main disciplines in my career:
Although I’ve practised more trapeze, fabric remains my favourite discipline. This year it’s the discipline I’ve decided to take up. I love the feeling of fluidity and elegance it gives, while requiring great strength and technical mastery.
Yes, although I’m not as regular as I used to be. Last year, I ran a bit, but I’m currently lacking motivation. Instead, I do Pilates sessions at home, following videos on YouTube. This helps me to keep fit, while complementing my aerial arts practice.
Every year, we were lucky enough to present a show at the Cirque d’Hiver Bouglione, an emblematic and impressive venue. When I was 18, I had the honor of taking part in the show’s final number, accompanied by two friends. It was a real source of pride and an unforgettable moment for me. It’s a privilege not given to everyone, and it remains one of my fondest memories as an aerial artist.
For the moment, I don’t have any specific circus-related projects, but I do have a personal goal: to spend a week surfing in a new country every year. I started this adventure a few years ago, and each trip is an opportunity to learn, progress and discover incredible spots. It also allows me to combine sport and exploration, two things I love.
Many thanks to Oriane for taking part in this interview!
