Meet Charles-Ambroise, passionate videographer

What if numbers told a story?

At Nohô, we love meeting people. We love discovering the journeys of passionate individuals, understanding what drives them, and entering their world.
Today, we introduce Charles-Ambroise, an independent videographer who has turned his curiosity and love for images into a career. Meet a video enthusiast.

5 questions for Charles, video enthusiast

Can you introduce yourself?

My name is Charles-Ambroise. I studied digital design. I’ve dabbled in quite a few areas: graphic design, photography, video… But what really grabbed me was video. That’s where I feel most at home; it’s what I love doing most.

What is your professional background?

At the end of my studies, I knew I wanted to make a living from video. So I decided to start my own business, to work for myself and build my own world.

How did you get into it? Were you filming before you started studying?

Not really, no. I did a bit of photography, but video came later.
It was during my studies at a digital design school that I started to take a serious interest in it. I started out as a digital project manager, so I wasn’t directly involved in creation. But working with people who were making their own videos made me want to try it. And I quickly got hooked.

Is there a theme or type of project you prefer?

What I enjoy is telling stories with images. I’ve already shot quite a bit of content for companies, and what I like about this type of project is understanding their message and their world, and translating that into a clear and aesthetically pleasing video.
I also pay a lot of attention to pre-production: preparing the shoot well, asking the right questions, thinking about the tone and rhythm…
And then there’s the color grading, which is an art form in its own right. It’s a real pleasure to play with moods and hues to enhance the shots.

What has been your best memory so far?

I would say the semi-finals and finals of the Top 14. I was doing an internship at the time, and we had to create video content for the event. The atmosphere was incredible, we got to interview athletes, be at the heart of the action… It was a very powerful moment.
