Introduction

A textile artist based in the heart of Nantes, Maiky Bulles is a multifaceted creator. Bespoke sewing, punch needle embroidery, customization, craftsmanship…

In her studio, she combines traditional know-how with contemporary creativity. On Nohô, she offers friendly gatherings around textiles, combining introduction, personalization, and sharing.

Can you introduce yourself?

My name is Maiky Bulles, and I am a passionate artist.

I have a studio in the center of Nantes, and I am a textile artist.

What has been your career path?

I have been sewing since I was six years old. I am not originally from Nantes; I come from Paris. I trained in the fashion industry. I first learned from my father, working with him and accompanying him to clothing workshops in Paris.

Then I studied at Lycée Rose and then Lycée Paul Poiret, also in Paris. I trained in PAP (ready-to-wear) sewing. So my background has been deeply rooted in sewing and fashion since childhood.

How did you end up in Nantes?

I’m a bit of a free spirit. I wanted to have my own workshop and move to a new city. Even though I really like Paris, life in the provinces is less expensive, which made it easier for me to get my project off the ground.

Can you tell me about your job?

I’ll give you the short version: since I know how to sew, I do custom work. But I’m also interested in tufting, especially hand punch needle. I took a course in shoemaking and got a certificate.

I also love animals, so I trained as a mobile pet groomer.

In fact, I’m a bit of a jack of all trades. I don’t limit myself to just one area. I decided to set up a workshop that brings together everything I’ve learned in my life and in my various training courses.

What do you offer at Nohô?

Introduction to punch needle embroidery

A fun introduction to punch needle embroidery. I explain everything from A to Z in a friendly atmosphere over a light snack. The idea is really to share my knowledge and have a good time being creative.

Introduction to weaving

I offer to explain and demonstrate how to use a hand loom. A hand loom can be used to make fabrics or fabric patterns. This introduction is different from what you might be used to seeing, and participants get to take their creations home with them.

Denim jacket customization

Workshops on customizing denim jackets.

If participants have a jacket they want to customize, they can bring it along. I have all the necessary materials: embroidery, beads, accessories, etc.

If they don’t have one, that’s no problem, as I also have materials available.

At the end, I offer a photo shoot with the creation. We are close to the Loire River and a park, so participants leave with their creation… and their photos.

Conclusion

Free, creative, and versatile, Maiky Bulles embodies a new generation of textile artists who are breaking down barriers between disciplines.

Combining sewing, punch needle embroidery, and customization, she has transformed her Nantes workshop into a space for expression and sharing. On Nohô, she offers much more than a workshop: a creative, friendly experience that is accessible to all.
